MOVING EVERYONE IN NEW DIRECTIONS

ABOUT

OUR MISSION

MEND (Moving Everyone in New Directions) bridges the gap by providing developmental services to returning citizens in Maryland. MEND is a 12-month

returning citizens program based out of Baltimore County that plans to service the entire state of Maryland. We've made it our mission to provide a full wrap-around service that covers therapy to housing, to training for employment to help guarantee their successful healthy new beginnings.

THE PROBLEM

Once released, returning citizens face serious barriers as they attempt to re-establish themselves in the community. These barriers fall into two categories: a lack of preparation for release and structural barriers to re-entry. Returning citizens received little preparation for release because budget constraints and cost-cutting measures forced some prisons to curtail education and job training programs. Eliminating these programs within the prison left offenders ill-prepared for life outside of the prison.
